KINGSTON, Ont. (November 18th 2018) - The Queen's Gaels (4-4) are victorious in 4 sets to the Nipissing Lakers (3-2). The scores of each set were 26-24, 25-27, 25-20 and 25-10.

GAME FLOW
In the first set, the Gaels got off to a slow start, giving up several errors early on allowing the Lakers to take a 7-point lead. After a time out, Queen's regain their offensive momentum with back to back kills made by
Caroline Livingston (Kelowna, B.C.). The Tricolour tied it up at 14-all with a block from Livingston but they were unable to steal the advantage from Nipissing. Queen's battled hard to catch the Laker's lead and they tied the set at 23 a piece. A Livingston kill put the Gaels in the lead for the first time in the sent and an error made by York ended the set with a score of 24-25.

The Gaels played a tighter defensive set in the second with blocks made by
Danielle Corrigan (North Vancouver, B.C.) andÂ
Isabelle Korchinski (Anmore, B.C.)Â A block by Korchinski allowed the Gaels to tie the set at 14-14 and a kill by Korchinski helped keep the Gaels in the set. The Gaels finally tied the set up again at 24-all and an ace by
Danielle Corrigan gave Queen's a single point advantage. Unfortunately, a Lakers time out killed the Gaels momentum and the Lakers ultimately took the second set with a score of 25-27.

Queen's had a strong offensive start to the third set with a service ace made by Livingston and kills made by Corrigan. Kills made by Korchinski and
Julia Wiercigroch (Mississauga, Ont.) extended the Gaels lead and a service ace by Wiercigroch allowed the Tricolour to take a 10 point lead over the Lakers. Digs made by
Alexandra Tsiofas (Toronto, Ont.) and a tip from Livingston lengthened the lead for the Gaels. The Tricolour played smart defence, limited their errors and ended the set on a block made by Corrigan and
Sierra Hardy (Oakville, Ont.). The score of the third was 25-20.

The Gaels took an early lead in the fourth set and strong defensive digs made by Korchinski kept the Lakers from overtaking their advantage. Wiercigroch Corrigan and Livingston made several kills adding to the Queen's 10 point lead. Serving ace made by
Makayla Keith (Calgary, Alta.) extended the Gaels lead and a kill by Wiercigroch brought the set to match point. A serving ace for Wiercigroch ended the set and the game with a score of 25-10.
