GAME FLOW
The opening minutes of the first period saw both the Gaels and the Blues swapping possession with good puck movement. While Toronto continued to keep the offensive pressure high, Queen's goalie
Stephanie Pascal held strong with a series of saves. A shot off the post from a Toronto stick stirred the Gaels, and minutes later,
Hailey Wilson put the Tricolour on the board with her third goal of the season.
Â
Opening the second on a power play, Pascal came up huge for the Gaels stretching across the crease to stop a 1-on-1 with a Blues forward who was unable to convert short-handed. Exchanging power plays, the Gaels relentless penalty kill unit kept the Blues at bay. Minutes later, Captain
Addi Halladay added to the Gaels tally with a second chance capitalization off a rebound to grow the lead 2-0 in favour of the home side.
Â
A force between the pipes in the second period, Pascal put her puck-stopping ability on display when she halted another breakaway attempt from the Blues to keep a clean sheet going into the final frame.
Â
Starting short-handed for the second consecutive period, the Gaels continued to flex their penalty kill prowess. Pascal and the Tricolour continued to battle and closed out the game with the 2-0 shut out victory.
