TORONTO (October 26th, 2018) – The Queen's Gaels (1-0) kicked off their OUA season against the York Lions (0-1) coming away with am 89-76 win on Friday Night at Tait McKenzie Centre in OUA men's basketball action.

Queen's got off to a quick 20-5 start, with a big dunk from Gaels forward
Tanner Graham. While the Gaels got out to a lead as large as 19 points, the Lions were able to chip away at the advantage and the lead was reduced to 12 at the half, with the Gaels up 40-28.
Queen's continued to hold a steady advantage in the 3rd quarter but were unable to pull away and put the game fully out of reach. The Lions would not go away in the 4th quarter, closing the advantage down to seven points with six minutes remaining. In the closing moments, the Lions would close to within five points, but the Gaels responded almost immediately stretching it back out to 10 points at 80-70 with 2:07 remaining.
Ultimately, it was the Gaels superior ability to stay patient on offence and wait for the open look which secured the victory 89-76. This was reflected in the team's shooting percentages, where the Gaels out-shot the Lions 52% to 37%.

Jaz Bains continues to be the focal point of the Gaels offence, scoring thirty-seven points and adding six rebounds.
28- York Guard Chevon Brown led the Lions with 28 points, but also took 24 shots.
