In the first set, the Gaels took an early lead starting with a serving ace from Danielle Corrigan (North Vancouver, B.C.) and several kills from Julia Wiercigroch (Mississauga, Ont.) and Natalie Crews (North Vancouver, B.C.). The Gaels continued their offensive streak, finding holes in the Rams defence and capitalizing on scoring opportunities. The Tricolour held their lead for the rest of the set and ultimately took the frame over the Rams with a score of 25-20. The second set started out in favour of the Gaels, but a serving rally by the Rams allowed Ryerson to surpass Queen's. The Rams tried to keep their lead, but Queen's battled back from a deficit to tie up the game. Serving aces from Crews and errors made by the Rams kept the Gaels in the game, but three straight points from Ryerson took the set with a score of 25-22 and tied up the game at 1-1.

The third set started out going point-for-point until the score was tied at 7-7 and the Rams took the lead with a three-point streak. The Gaels were unable to make digs on the Ryerson offence and allowed the Rams to build their lead. The Tricolour struggled to catch the Rams score and consequently lost the third set allowing Ryerson to take the lead in the game 2-1.

The fourth and final set of the match was back and forth between the Gaels and the Rams. The Tricolour took the lead late in the set with an ace from Wiercigroch and kills by Isabelle Korchinski (Anmore, B.C.), Crews and Shannon Neville (Cambridge, Ont).. The Rams found their offensive groove and fought back from a deficit to surpass the Gaels and take the set with a score of 25-22. The Rams won the game with a score of three sets to the Gaels one.
