VANCOUVER - The Queen's Gaels men's hockey team picked up their first exhibition win of the season as they took down the UBC Thunderbirds 2-0 in Vancouver Friday but dropped a 2-1 decision on Saturday to split the two-game series.
GAME 1 - Queen's 2, UBC 0
The Gaels are in British Columbia for a two-game series against the Canada West division Thunderbirds and came away with a victory in the first game late Friday night.
Darcy Greenaway and
Eric Margo each scored for Queen's in the victory with Greenaway striking first in the second period followed by a late third period insurance tally from Margo.
Jacob Brennan held down the fort for Queen's in net turning aside all 24 shots faced for the shutout win.
GAME 2 - Queen's 1, UBC 2
Darcy Greenaway once again found the scoresheet for the Gaels as he connected for a powerplay goal from Jaden Lindo in the first period putting Queen's up 1-0.
Kevin Bailie got the start for Queen's in net, stopping 26 shots. UBC managed to beat Bailie twice in the game, scoring once in the second to tie things up and 1-1 and again in the third to seal a 2-1 win.
