SUDBURY, Ont. (September 17, 2017) – The No.5 Gaels (4-1-1) lose their first game of the season 2-0 on the road against the Laurentian Voyageurs (4-0-3) on Sunday afternoon.
GAME FLOW
The Tricolour started the first half with fantastic ball control and maintaining possession from Laurentian. The Gaels sent several shots towards the Laurentian keeper but were unable to find the back of the net.
26 minutes into the first half, the Gaels had a defensive lapse, allowing for the Voyageurs to capitalize on a shot from outside of the box and take a 1-0 lead. They ended the first half trailing Laurentian 1-0.
With the second half underway, Queen's continued to press their offensive game, with strong shots from
Laura Callender (Ottawa) and
Rachel Radu (Ottawa). The Gaels tried to even the score with a firm header but couldn't find the back of the net.
In the 64th minute of the game Laurentian lengthened their lead to 2-0. Queen's kept the pressure on but the Voyageurs maintained their composure keeping the score 2-0 to end the game.
