OSHAWA, Ont. (August 27, 2017) - The Queen's Gaels (0-1-0) men's soccer team travelled to Oshawa to take on the UOIT Ridgebacks (1-0-0) to open up their OUA season on Sunday afternoon.

The lone goal of the match came off the foot of UOIT striker Fabio Campoli in the 58th minute as he beat Gaels starting keeper
Alex Jones (Comox, B.C.).
The Gaels had their chances throughout the game with seven corners compared to none for the Ridgebacks. Queen's and UOITÂ each had 13 shot attempts with the Ridgebacks leading with in shots on goal seven to the Gaels 5.
Patrick Van Belleghem (Kenora, Ont.) was one of the busier Gaels offensively firing four shot attempts and landing one on target.
Jones finished with four saves in the loss while Nicholas Miller picked up a clean sheet win with five saves for the Ridgebacks. The two teams will meet once more this season when UOIT visits Queen's in Kingston on Saturday, September 23.Â
