Gaels head to Hamilton for OUA Quarter-final against No.3 McMaster

KINGSTON, Ont. (March 2, 2017) - The OUA East fourth seed Queen's Gaels will travel to face the OUA West first seed and No.3 nationally ranked McMaster Marauders in an OUA quarter-final playoff match on Saturday at 3pm in Hamilton.

OUA QF: Saturday, March 3, 3:00 p.m. Queen's at McMaster, OUA.tv

REGULAR SEASON

Oct. 1: McMaster 3, Queen's 1 (Exhibition)
Feb. 24: McMaster 3, Queen's 0

Queen's visited McMaster on the final weekend of the OUA season falling in straight sets to the undefeated Marauders 3-0. The Gaels committed 23 attack errors in the loss to the Marauders which ultimately cost them the match. McMaster also outblocked the Gaels at the net with 13 compared to just four for Queen's. The Gaels will need to limit any mistakes in order to take down McMaster who has yet to lose in league play this season.

Queen's also hosted McMaster in exhibition play back in October at the Queen's Invitational, the Marauders got the best of Queen's in a 3-1 win.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Queen's - Markus Trence: Trence was the only Gael to hit the double-digit mark in points in the Gaels loss at McMaster with 10

McMaster - Danny Demyanenko: Two solo and four assisted blocks for Demyanenko against the Gaels, he'll look to continue his net dominance Saturday

KEY TO THE GAME: DEPTH

The Marauders have plenty of weapons for their attack against Queen's with three players finishing with 11 or more points in their only regular season meeting. McMaster finished with an attack percentage of 0.359 across the board against the Gaels and took points every way they could controlling the net and their attacks. For Queen's the questions will be who can step up to provide the depth the Gaels will need to contend with McMaster. Trence finished with 28 of the Gaels 75 attacks in their loss with only one other player, Zac Hutcheson, getting to double-digit attacks at 11.
