OSHAWA, Ont. (February 4, 2017) - The Queen's Gaels (17-6-3) suffered a 3-2 overtime loss to the UOIT Ridgebacks (15-11-1) on Saturday afternoon in OUA men's hockey action.
GAME FLOW
The Gaels were in Oshawa looking to rebound from their Carr-Harris Cup loss Thursday to the RMC Paladins.
It was the Ridgebacks who got on the board first as Jack Patterson beat
Jacob Brennan (Halifax) in the early stages of the opening period. In the second period UOIT made it a 2-0 lead on a goal from Danny Elser and the Gaels once again were down 2-0 as they were Thursday.
Queen's was able to strike in the third period as
Patrick Downe (New Maryland, N.B.) got the Gaels on the board with his third goal of the season. With just 33 seconds left in the game Downe set up
Darcy Greenaway (Wilton, Ont.) who sent the game to overtime with his tally.
The Ridgebacks scored on their 44th shot of the game to take the OT win 3-2. Brennan stopped 41 shots in the loss for the Gaels.

The Gaels return home next Friday, February 10 to take on the Concordia Stingers at 7:30pm at the Memorial Centre in Kingston.
