GAME OF THE WEEK
Men's Hockey
KINGSTON (November 30, 2017) – The Gaels men's hockey team (8-4-3) returns to home ice on Saturday to host the Ottawa Gee-Gees (8-4-2). Game time is set for 7:30 pm at the Memorial Centre.
The Tricolour enter the Ottawa matchup following a wild win on Wednesday night over their rival RMC Paladins (5-8-3) by a score of 5-4. Despite giving up a lead late in the third period, the Gaels were able to bounce back and win the game in overtime when
Luke Edwards (Kingston, Ont.) scored the game winner 1:53 into overtime.
The Gaels will look to keep their momentum going into Saturday and snap the Gee-Gees four-game win streak. While Ottawa has notched fourteen goals in their last four games, they have also conceded ten. Gee-Gees goaltenders Brodeur and Hunt combine for a 3.28 goals-against average compared to Queen's goaltenders
Kevin Bailie and
Jacob Brennan's who, together, sit at a 2.76 average.
Last season, the Gaels defeated the Gee-Gees 2-1 in the playoff series with a 3-2 win, 2-3 loss and 2-0 win.
Look for
Slater Doggett (Oakville, Ont.) to be a threat up front for Queen's. The third year forward leads the Gaels team with nine goals and seven assists – a total of 16 points in just 15 games.
