THUNDER BAY, Ont. (November 18, 2017) – The Queen's Gaels (5-1) fought hard for a 3-0 win against the Lakehead Thunderwolves (3-4). The scores of each set were 26-25, 25-20 and 25-18 respectively.

GAME FLOW
In the first set, the Gaels started out slowly with only eight kills compared to Lakeheads 15. It was the Thunderwolves errors which kept the Gaels in the lead but kept the score close. The Gaels kept their lead but Lakehead trailed close behind, sending the set into extended points.  Fantastic efforts by Vicotria Wensley (Coquitlam, B.C.) and Shannon Neville (Cambridge, Ont.) brought the Gaels the win with a score of 26-24.

The second set found eight kills for the Gaels, with Isabelle Korchinski (Animore, B.C.) leading the Tricolour in kills for this match. Unfortunately, the Gaels took seven errors which kept the score close for most of the set. Queen's took the lead and won the set with a score of 25-20. The Gaels lead the match with a score of 2-1.

The third and final set showed what the Gaels were really made of. The Tricolour made 13 kills and only three errors taking a lead early in the set. Digs by Wensley and blocks by Natalie Crews (North Vancouver, B.C.) held Lakehead at a score of 18 while the Gaels lengthened their lead. Julia Weiercigroch (Mississauga, Ont.) sent several kills at the Thunderwolves and allowed the Gaels to take the set with a score of 25-18.

Queen's won the match in three straight sets.
