GAELS THIS WEEK – Undefeated in regulation, Queen’s women’s hockey hosts UOIT Saturday in Game of the Week

GAME OF THE WEEK
Women's Hockey
The nationally ranked No.10 Gaels women's hockey team (6-2-0-1) will return to home ice when they host the UOIT Ridgebacks (2-2-4-1) at the Memorial Centre Saturday night. Puck drop is set for 7:30pm.

The Gaels enter play against UOIT coming off back-to-back road victories over Windsor and Western last weekend.

Against the Lancers, Queen's came out on top during shootout when Katrina Manoukarakis (Scarborough, Ont.) stepped up for the Gaels and sealed the win with a quick wrist shot above the glove of the Windsor goaltender.

The next day saw another strong performance from the Tricolour, who toppled the Western Mustangs 4-0 in London. Gaels goaltender Stephanie Pascal (Sudbury, Ont.) picked up her second shutout of the season in the win, recording 29 saves.

Looking to the UOIT matchup, the Gaels remain undefeated during regulation time.

Rewind back to the beginning of the season, the Gaels opened conference play against the Ridgebacks in Oshawa. On the day, Queen's came away with a 2-1 victory off the stick of Caroline DeBruin (Burlington, Ont.) late in the third to seal the win.

Look for Katrina Manoukarakis and Addi Halladay (North Augusta, Ont.) to be an offensive threat on the ice this weekend. The duo are tied for the top spot in the OUA with 9 points apiece, while Clare McKellar (London, Ont.) leads the conference with 7 assists.

Admission for students is free. For tickets, head to www.gogaelsgo.com/tickets. Can't make it to the games? Watch Saturday matchup live on OUA.tv at 7:30pm.

Women's Basketball
After a road trip to Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. last weekend, the No.10 Queen's women's basketball team will hit the road once again – this time to Waterloo to take on the winless Waterloo Warriors (0-5) on Friday. Tip-off is set for 6pm.

Last weekend, the Gaels secured their fourth consecutive win to remain undefeated with a 72-59 win over the Algoma Thunderbirds. On the night, Abby Dixon (North Vancouver, B.C.) put up a strong second frame and finished with 15 points and four steals in the victory.

Heading into the Friday matchup, Queen's will look to extend their win streak to five. Last year, the Warriors finished with a 6-14 record and met the Tricolour once during the regular season. The game saw the Gaels outscore and out-rebound the Warriors by 30 to pull off a 93-63 win.

A quick turnaround will see the Gaels battle the Laurier Golden Hawks (3-2) the following. Saturday's fixture will see a 6pm game time.

Don't miss the action, watch Friday and Saturday's games live on OUA.tv at 6pm.

Men's Basketball
The Gaels men's basketball team (3-1) will accompany the women's squad to Waterloo on Friday night for a fixture against the Warriors at 8pm.

The Tricolour clinched their third victory of the season last weekend with a 97-89 win over Algoma thanks to a 33-point performance from Gaels rookie guard Jaz Bains (Brampton, Ont.).

Queen's will look to build from their stellar performance and push for back-to-back wins in Waterloo this weekend. The last time these two teams met was during the regular season last year when the Gaels came away with a 78-59 score at the ARC. Tanner Graham tied for the game-high in points with 16 field goals and 16 boards – the only player in the game to reach the double-digit mark in rebounds on the day.

Following the Waterloo game, Queen's will make the short trip to Laurier to take on the Golden Hawks Saturday. Tip-off is set for 8pm.

Tune into OUA.tv on Friday and Saturday at 8pm to watch it all go down.

Men's Hockey
It's a road trip for the Queen's men's hockey team (4-3-3), who will make the trek up North this weekend to battle the Laurentian Voyageurs and Nipissing Lakers.

Following back-to-back losses, the Gaels will look to bounce back against the Voyageurs (2-8-0) and get back to their winning ways on Friday night.

Last year the Voyageurs finished with a 11-12-5 record compared to a 18-7-3 standing for Queen's. The Gaels met Laurentian twice last season, coming away triumphant both times with 3-0 and 6-3 victories. During those games, forward Ryan Bloom (Calgary, Alta.) notched 3 goals and 1 assist.

The next day will see the Gael's men's hockey squad back on the ice for a matchup against Nipissing.

Puck drop for both games is set for 7:30pm. Watch the action live on OUA.tv.

Men's Volleyball
The shortest of all the Gaels road trips this weekend, the Queen's men's volleyball team (3-1) will make their way across town to take on the RMC Paladins (1-4) Saturday at 7pm.

The Gaels will look to extend their win-streak to three in a row in Paladin territory.

Last season, both meetings between Queen's and RMC resulted in Gaels victories, with Queen's defeating the Paladins 3-0 and 3-1.

Look for Zane Grossinger to have another big game for Queen's. Last weekend, the rookie setter put up 56 assists during the Gaels 3-2 victory over Waterloo.

Watch Saturday's fixture live on OUA.tv at 7pm.

Women's Volleyball
The Queen's women's volleyball team (4-1) will travel to Thunder Bay, Ont. this weekend to face off against the Lakehead Thunderwolves (2-2) on Saturday night. Game time is set for 7pm.

Fresh off back-to-back wins last weekend, the Tricolour will push to take home their third straight win at Lakehead.

Leading the OUA with 51 service aces, the Tricolour attack has been relentless on the court. A 3-2 win over Guelph followed by a 3-1 victory over Waterloo moved the Gaels to 4-1 on the season.

Last year the Gaels defeated the Thunderwolves 3-1 on home court. That same season, Lakehead finished with a 4-15 standing compared to a 10-9 record for Queen's.

Watch for Olivia Van Baaren to boost the Queen's offence. The second year outside hitter led the Gaels with 20 kills against Waterloo last weekend.

Catch Saturday's game live on OUA.tv Saturday at 7pm.
