OTTAWA (October 8, 2017) – The No.10 Queen's Gaels (8-3-1) lost in a 4-0 shutout on the road at the No.7 Ottawa Gee-Gees (9-1-3) on Sunday afternoon.
GAME FLOW
The Gaels found themselves in a hole early in the match as Ottawa took a 1-0 lead in the 3rd minute of the game.
Jenny Wolever (Toronto) and
Laura Callender (Ottawa) sent several shots on net but were unable to connect. In the 9
th minute of the game
Alicia Levy (Mississauga) was awarded the first of four yellow cards this game.
The Gaels struggled to control possession of the ball and in the 18th minute of the game the Gee-Gees lengthened their lead to 2-0. Ottawa continued to put pressure on the Gaels, and quickly scored another goal to make the score 3-0.
In the second half, the Gaels regained control of the game and held the Gee Gees at 3-0. In the 51
st minute of the game, the Gee-Gees were awarded the third yellow card of the match.
Unfortunately, despite all their efforts, the Gaels experienced a defensive break down and the Gee Gees scored their fourth goal of the game. Minutes after, Ottawa was awarded the fourth and final yellow card.
The Gaels continued to put pressure on the Gee-Gees but they were unable to put a goal on the board.
