QUEBEC CITY - The Queen's Gaels men's basketball team continued their exhibition tune-up ahead of the regular season as they met Laval on Thursday night and UNB on Friday in Quebec City.
QUEEN'S 71, LAVAL 77
The Gaels got off to a good start, holding leads of five after the first quarter and two at the half but a tough stretch in the third quarter is what did the Gaels in.
Laval put together a 25 point third quarter performance, outscoring the Gaels by 11 and taking a nine-point lead into the final frame.
Queen's was able to keep it close but in the end fell 77-71. The Gaels were led by
Mike Shoveller who posted a game-high 25 points to go along with 13 rebounds.
Jaz Bains added 19 of his own while
Tanner Graham posted a 13 point, nine rebound effort.
The Rouge et Or were led by 16 points from Frantson Demosthene.
QUEEN'S 70, UNB 78
Queen's closed out their exhibition schedule with a game against UNB in Quebec City on Friday evening falling 78-70.
The Gaels will turn their focus to the OUA season as they begin play Friday night in Kingston at the ARC in their home opener against Lakehead. Tip-off is set for 8 pm and tickets are available at www.gogaelsgo.com/tickets.
