AMHERST, Mass. – The Queen's Gaels men's hockey team visited the University of Massachusetts Minutemen on Saturday night falling 1-0 in the exhibition matchup.
Niko Rufoprovided scored the lone tally in the contest with a first period goal and the five goalies that appeared in the game between the two teams stole the show the rest of the way.
Kevin Bailie got the start for the Gaels stopping 23 of 24 shots faced in the 30:28 played in the game.
Jacob Brennan played the second half of the game for Queen's and turned aside all 18 shots that UMass sent his way.
For the Minutemen, netminders Ryan Wischow, Matt Murray and Brad Arvanitis each played one period in the shutout. Wischow made five saves, while Murray and Arvanitis had eight and 12 stops, respectively.
Up next for the Gaels, they will visit the Ottawa Gee-Gees on Friday night at 7 pm for their final exhibition tune-up before the OUA season.
