OSHAWA, Ont. (Jan. 20, 2017) – The Queen's Gaels defeated the UOIT Ridgebacks 2-1 Friday evening in overtime to extend their winning streak to seven games.
GAMEFLOW
The game was a low-scoring tight contest between the two teams. In the first period, UOIT took a 1-0 lead scoring in the sixteenth minute. Kassidy Naubois scored for the Ridgebacks with Mikaeli Cavell and Teresa Horner assisting. In the second period, in spite of a number of chances both ways, the score remained 1-0 for the Ridgebacks.
In the third period,
Kyla Crouse (Mont Brydges, Ont.) tied the game in the first minute.
Nadia Larocca (Mississauga, Ont.) picked up an assist on the play. This forced the game into overtime after neither team was able to score through the remainder of regulation.
In overtime, Larocca scored in the first twelve seconds of the period, allowing the Gaels to take a 2-1 final.
Jessica Wakefield (Lucan, Ont.) and
Danelle Bishoff (Calgary) assisted on the goal securing the Gaels seventh straight win.
