KINGSTON, Ont. (August 24, 2016) – The men's soccer team played the Concordia Stingers in their first home exhibition game on Wednesday afternoon on Tindall field, falling 3-1 at the end of the match.
The Stingers play in the RSEQ conference and finished last year with a 3-9 regular season record.

GAME FLOW
The Gaels were too eager to get ahead early in the match, sending through balls to players in offside positions twice in the opening minutes. Queen's and Concordia also traded yellow cards before the 15 minute mark, when the Stingers started to settle into a rhythm. Amadou Lam put the visitors up 1-0 in the 18th minute, and Elias Barutciski doubled their lead before halftime.

Queen's started the second half with offensive pressure, cutting Concordia's lead in half on a goal from
Jacob Schroeter (Ottawa, Ont.). The Gaels goal came off a throw from
Kristian Zanette (Thunder Bay, Ont.), who earned an assist on the play when his throw sailed into the box and redirected off Schroeter's head.

An insurance marker from the Stingers in the 85th minute sealed the Gaels fate, as Concordia earned the 3-1 win.
