GUELPH, Ont. (November 5, 2016) - The Gaels (4-0-4-0) suffered their second loss to No. 5 Guelph (4-2-1-1) in as many weeks, falling 5-0 on the road Saturday afternoon.
GAME FLOW
The Gaels out-shot the home team 9-8 in the opening frame, but were down 1-0 after the 20 minutes thanks to a Gryphons goal from Stephanie Gava.Â
Guelph went to work straight out of the intermission, with Kelly Gribbons scoring in the opening minute of the middle stanza. Queen's mustered only seven shots in the period, all of which were stopped by Valerie Lamenta in Guelph's net. Sydney Davison bookended the frame with another Gryphons goal in the final minute, with Gava picking up her second of three points on the night.Â
After Sophie Contant put the home team up 4-0 in the third, Queen's managed their most shots in any period, and held Guelph to only seven. Despite their limited opportunities, the Gryphons added a fifth and final goal from Brittany St. James, her first of the year.
Stephanie Pascal was in net for the Gaels, stopping 23 shots in the loss.
