KINGSTON, Ont. (October 7, 2016) - The Queen's Gaels (0-1) hosted the Carleton Ravens (1-0) at the Memorial Centre to open their OUA season but it was the visitors who were able to come out on top with a 4-3 win.
GAME FLOW
The Gaels season got started off on the wrong foot as the Carleton Ravens jumped out in front with three first period goals before the half-way point of the opening frame.
The first marker came after a miscue by the Gaels defence and Ryan Van Stralen scored the opening goal. Hayden Hulton and Evan de Haan added the other two and the Ravens finished the opening period with a 3-0 road lead.
Just 56 seconds into the second period the Gaels got on the board.
Slater Doggett (Oakville, Ont.) broke down the left wing and dropped a pass for
Eric Ming (Williamstown, Ont.) who made no mistake firing a wrist-shot top shelf on Raven goaltender Francois Brassard.
After Carleton took a late 4-1 lead in the third period, Ming set up a Doggett goal and scored another of his own to cut the lead to just 4-3. Queen's couldn't find the tying goal and the Ravens finished with the win.
Kevin Bailie (Belleville, Ont.) finished with 33 saves in the loss for the Gaels.
