London, Ont. (October 15, 2016) - The No.7 Gaels finished their 2016 playoffs with a loss against the Western Mustangs 27-20 finishing fourth in the OUA playoffs.
GAME FLOW
The Mustangs started the game with a try by weaving through the Gaels after picking up the ball 22 yards out, shortly after that they added a second try all within the first 15 minutes of the game making the score 10-0 for Western. Luckily for the Gaels the scrum went into the Mustangs 20 yard line and Lauren Murray (Lindsay, Ont.) put the Gaels on the board, making the score 10-5. The Mustangs scored another try and conversion and the Gaels responded with one try, making the score at halftime 17-10 for the Mustangs.
Holding on strong the Gaels opened up the second half with a try, closing the gap and making the score 17-15 for the Mustangs. Unfortunately the Gaels were only able to score one more try to the Mustangs two making the final score 27-20. For the third straight season Queen's lost to Western for the OUA Bronze medal.
