KINGSTON, Ont. (January 31, 2016) - The Gaels (9-2-5-2) scored four unanswered goals to complete the comeback and beat the UOIT Ridgebacks (4-1-13-2) 4-3 on Sunday afternoon.

Game Flow
Just like Saturday's game versus Guelph, Queen's and UOIT came out to a fast-paced start. The Ridgebacks had the first big chance of the game with a man advantage just two minutes in. Gabrielle Lamanna converted on the powerplay to give the visitors an early 1-0 lead. The Gaels were unable to score on their single powerplay of the first period despite almost two full minutes of zone time. With 2:30 left, UOIT capitalized on a rebound opportunity and took a big 2-0 lead.
 

Queen's looked to chip away at their early-game deficit heading into the second period. Three minutes in though, it was the Ridgebacks scoring yet again. A wrap-around chance found its way under Caitlyn Lahonen (Saskatoon, Sask.), leading to a 3-0 lead for visiting team. After a big momentum-building 5 on 3 penalty kill by the Gaels, Katrina Manoukarakis (Scarborough, Ont.) got the team on the board. UOIT went on their own 5 on 3 kill late in the period as well. While the Gaels did not convert with two players up, Manoukarakis scored her second of the game and ninth of the year just seconds later.

With momentum on their side in the final 10 minutes of the second, the Gaels quickly killed off a penalty to start things off in the third. 16 minutes later the Gaels scored their third unanswered goal. After a big late-game penalty kill, Kyla Crouse (Mount Brydges, Ont.) exited the penalty box and score her fifth of the season.

The Gaels fired 24 shots on net in the third and forced the game to overtime with the late marker.

The first period solved nothing, as the teams traded chances with no goals to show for it. Double overtime started with three players a side and it was Manoukarakis once again, scoring her third of the game and tenth of the season to complete the Gaels comeback. With four unanswered goals, Queen's wins a double overtime game and picks up two points on the day.
