Gaels finish off Toronto road trip with 3-1 loss to Ryerson

TORONTO (January 30, 2016) – Although the Gaels (11-4) had the early 1-0 lead, the Ryerson Rams (12-4) grabbed three sets in a row to score a 3-1 (22-25, 25-21, 25-18, 25-21) comeback win Saturday night.

It was a big night for Marko Dakic (Mississauga, Ont.) on the Queen's side of the action as he chalked up 20 kills off a 0.471 efficiency. Jamie Wright (Kingston, Ont.) supported the team with 37 assists. Lucas Coleman was the offensive standout for the Rams with his 18 kills and three serving aces.

GAME FLOW
It was competitive first set with the two teams trading points for most of the frame as Queen's only got up with a one point advantage by the technical timeout. The tight match-up continued through the rest of the set with the Gaels getting away with a 25-22 set to go up 1-0 over the Rams.

The second was another tight battle with the Rams finding the early lead and the Gaels managing to get a 19-17 lead late in the set. This time the Rams were able to find a way out of the back and forth action, catching an edge over the Gaels to put away a 25-21 set and tie the match at 1-1.

The Gaels started to fall behind Ryerson in the third set as the hosts gained momentum and improved their efficiency to 0.467. By the technical timeout the Rams were up by six points and they stayed well ahead of the Gaels for the rest of the set with the 25-18 score giving them a 2-1 advantage heading into the fourth set.

It was more Ryerson dominance in the final frame with the Gaels staying close on their opponent's heels as they tried to keep a comeback in sight. The Rams kept the Gaels from succeeding in their campaign and finished off their night with the 25-21 set win.
