TORONTO (January 29, 2016) – The Gaels (8-6) fell this Friday night against the No.3 Toronto Varsity Blues (13-0) in three straight sets (25-16, 25-18, 25-17). With win the Varsity Blues remain undefeated in their 2015-16 OUA season.

Becky Wilson (Pickering, Ont.) picked up 19 digs for Queen's. For the Blues Alina Dormann led their campaign with 10 kills, seven digs and two serving aces while Denise Wooding contributed 20 digs to the match.
GAME FLOW The first set belonged to the Blues as they took off with the early lead and stayed ahead to put away a 25-16 set score giving them a 1-0 advantage.
The Gaels turned up the heat in the second set, increasing their efficiency and tying the score at 14-14 as the technical timeout approached. The hosts didn't let the Gaels get away with their newfound momentum and responded with a strong offensive performance for the rest of the set. Despite the increased Gaels pressure, the Blues took the second set 25-18 to head into the final frame up 2-0.
Toronto matched their first set performance in the third, getting away from the Gaels and only committing two errors off a 0.262 efficiency. The Gaels kept their energy high as they had in the second but the No. 3 team managed to seal their 3-0 with a 25-17 final set score.
