Greenaway nets comeback winner at Laurentian

SUDBURY, Ont. (January 22, 2016) - The Gaels Men's Hockey Team (12-6-1) started their northern Ontario road trip with a 3-2 win over the Laurentian Voyageurs (7-11-4) on Friday night in Sudbury. It snapped the team's season-long three game losing streak.

Game Flow
After coming up just short of a comeback last weekend versus Carleton, Queen's looked to get off on the right foot an jump to an early lead. The Voyageurs spoiled the visitor's party and struck first. Less than two minutes in Tyler Shaw netted his first goal of the season and gave the home team a 1-0 lead. The game was quiet offensively from there with the Gaels putting 14 shots on net.

The second period gave the Gaels their first big break of the game on the powerplay. Ryan Bloom (Calgary, Alta.) converted with the extra man and scored his fourth of the year, tying the game at one. Laurentian converted on a powerplay of their own 10 minutes later to jump back in front. Despite two more powerplays in the period, it took a 5 on 5 chance for the Gaels to tie things up. 15:01 into the period Patrick McGillis (Calgary) scored his 10th goal of the season to tie the game up at 2-2 going into the final frame.

Queen's fired another 18 shots on the Laurentian net in the final period, and one of them crossed the goal line and gave the Gaels a 3-2 lead. Just over 12 minutes in, Darcy Greenaway (Wilton, Ont.) put away his sixth goal and put the team up 3-2. They shut the door the rest of the way, and came away with a comeback win to snap their three game losing streak.
