Women's basketball wins battle of Kingston over St. Lawrence 69-48

KINGSTON, Ont. (September 21, 2015) - The Queen's women's basketball team was at St. Lawrence College on Monday night to take on the Vikings in a battle of Kingston. The Gaels scored 25 points in the opening quarter on their way to a 69-48 win.

GAME FLOW
The Gaels got off to a quick start on the Vikings dropping 25 points in the opening quarter. Jenny Wright (Kingston, Ont.) a fifth-year senior was in the starting lineup and got the Gaels out in front early. She finished up with 23 points on 9/15 shooting to lead all scorers in the game.

At the half the Gaels sat comfortably ahead 36-20. The entire Queen's lineup saw action in their opening game in North America as all 14 players hit the hardwood. Queen's entered the second half having shot an impressive 48% from the field compared to the Vikings at 18%.

The Gaels put the game in cruise control in the second half and held on for a 69-48 win. Katherina Holt (Tiny, Ont.) put up 11 points and added five rebounds while Nicole Morse (Cottam, Ont.) chipped in with 10 of her own.

The Vikings saw a strong performance from Jackie Rodgerson who finished with 11 points to lead all Vikings players.

Queen's will continue their exhibition play as they gear up for their OUA season when they travel to Montreal to take on the Concordia Stingers on Friday October 2 at 8pm.
