Gaels use 39 point second half to take down Vikings

KINGSTON, Ont. (September 21, 2015) The Queen's men's basketball team hit the hardcourt for the first time this year as they visited the St. Lawrence Vikings in Kingston on Monday night. After being tied 33-33 at halftime the Gaels pulled away with 39 second half points to take the 72-57 win.

GAME FLOW
It was a tale of two halves for the Gaels on Monday night, but also for their opponents. Queen's finished the first half shooting 45% from the floor compared to the Vikings who came in at 42% and the two teams were all square at 33-33 heading into the second half.

From there it was all Queen's as they shot the lights out at St. Lawrence. Queen's finished the second half with 39 points which came from shooting an impressive 58% from the floor while the Vikings were stymied by the Gaels defence and could only muster a 25% mark.

That was the difference in the game and Queen's pulled out a 72-57 win. Both Jesse Graham (Kingston, Ont.) and Tanner Graham (Kingston, Ont.) led the way offensively finishing with 18 and 12 points respectively. Jesse finished shooting 9/11 from the floor while Tanner hauled in six rebounds while recording a game high three blocked shots.

St. Lawrence saw an impressive effort from Jaz Bains who filled up the scoresheet with 19 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals in over 34 minutes of action.

UP NEXT
Queen's will continue their exhibition play as they gear up for their OUA season when they trael to Montreal to take on the Concordia Stingers on Friday October 2 at 6pm.
