TORONTO (September 19, 2015) - The Queen's Gaels (2-1-2) got a late goal from
Conor Hannigan (Victoria) and defeated the Toronto Varsity Blues (4-2-1) 2-1 this Saturday afternoon in Toronto at the Varsity Centre.
GAME FLOWToronto started off the game when they scored their first goal early in the match in just the third minute. It was Nirun Sivananathan who found the back of the net to take advantage and give the Varsity Blues the edge right off the start. The Gaels did not give way under pressure as they were able to stay calm and play their game.
Jacob Schroeter (Ottawa) got the Gaels back in the game just eight minutes after for his second strike in as many games and third on the season evening the score at 1-1.
It was all tied up late into the second half until Hannigan, who had received a yellow card just 12 minutes earlier, scored his first goal for the season against the Blues at the 81st minute mark. From there the Gaels were able to stave off any Toronto attack and hold on for the win, their second straight.
Kyle Lanzinger picked up the win with one save and Rab Bruce-Lockhart recorded none taking the loss for Toronto.
