The Queen's men's soccer team returns to the pitch on Saturday August 30th when they travel to Ottawa to face Carleton to open their 2015 regular season. The Gaels are coming off a season that saw them finish third in the OUA East before losing to Toronto in the OUA Quarter-Finals.

Queens will look to build off of last year's successful regular season as they hope to make a run for an OUA medal. This year's Gaels lineup includes returning OUA East Division All-Stars Jacob Schroeter (Ottawa, Ont.) and Kristian Zanette (Thunder Bay, Ont.). Also returning is Andrew Martin (Kingston, Ont.) and Patrick van Belleghem (Kenora, Ont.).

Over the past three years, Queen's has finished in 3rd place or better in the OUA East Division and qualified for the OUA playoffs. They haven't won an OUA medal since their 2007 season which saw them earn an OUA Bronze medal. They will looking to get past the quarterfinals this upcoming season which is something they haven't accomplished since 2012.

QUOTE FROM THE HEAD COACH:
"The biggest thing is the schedule we have in the OUA with back-to-back matches, because of this we wanted to ensure we have a massive roster of depth and quality so we can stay healthy. My goal is to hopefully not have to play guys back-to-back 90 minutes, again it comes back to recovery time, were at a disadvantage when we play Ryerson and then U of T those are two top teams. Really the biggest goal of ours is to have healthy players and ensure they are healthy when it comes playoff time. You can see we're a younger side, I have brought in a lot of first year recruits and a couple grad students who will be first year so that's a benefit as well. I'm very optimistic about the upcoming game against Carleton and again we want to win that so we start momentum and then travel through the season with that momentum." - Coach Christian Hoefler
