KINGSTON, Ont. (August 28, 2015) – The Gaels women's basketball finishes 1 - 1 in their two preseason games in Barcelona, Spain
Day 1The Gaels led the game for most of the first half, going into half-time with a single point lead. They were outscored in the third quarter, which gave Lima Hort BCN a four point lead heading into the fourth. The final quarter saw the Gaels play their best basketball of the evening; the team came from behind and put up 23 fourth quarter points to win the game 59–53.
Jenny Wright (Kingston, Ont.) scored nine of her team high 13 points in the fourth, hitting two three pointers to jump-start the comeback win.
Emily Hazlett (Fredericton) was second in scoring with 10 points, and both
Abby Dixon (North Vancouver, B.C.) and
Andrea Priamo (Guelph, Ont.) both contributed nine points each to the victory.
Day 2Sant Adria proved to be too much to handle Friday afternoon for the Gaels, losing the game by 30 plus points. The Gaels struggled throughout the game and were never able to close the gap and make a comeback. Dixon and Wright once again led the Gaels in scoring contributing six points each.These two preseason games gave the Gaels valuable experience and a lot to build on going into their 2015-16 season.SCHEDULE:DATE | TEAMS |
