MONTREAL (August 22, 2015) - The Queen's women's soccer team is in Montreal as McGill hosts the annual Old Four exhibition tournament between Queen's, Western, Toronto and McGill.
Day 1The Gaels and Mustangs kicked off the Old Four tournament where Queen's had two strikes in their opening match as veteran
Brittany Almeida (Kingston, Ont.) and rookie Sarah Nixon (Oakville, Ont.) were each able to beat the Mustang keeper. Â Western struck twice in the game as
Paige Howard and Lauren Winquist beat Gaels keeper
Madison Tyrell (White Rock, B.C.).
The two teams needed penalties to decide an eventual winner and the Mustangs converted on all three attempts while Queen's was stopped on all three of their shots to give Western the victory.
Queen's will now move on to the consolation game on Sunday at 10am against the loser of McGill and Toronto.
Day 2The Gaels offence was clicking oce again as they potted three goals against the Varsity Blues with Almeida and Nixon both recording their second goals in as many games while 2014 CIS All-Canadian
Jessie de Boer (North Vancouver, B.C.) notched the third goal.
Despite the offensive firepower Toronto got the last laugh. Julia Gonsalves notched a pair of goals to lead the Varsity Blues 4-3 over Queen's.
Michaila Frawley (Victoria) started in net for the Gaels and took the loss.
