Player to watch Kevin Bailie | #30 | G | Queen's The reigning CIS Rookie of the Year, OUA MVP and Top Goalie Bailie had a strong season and continued his stellar play between the pipes in the playoffs for Queen's. In the opening round Bailie finished with a 1.32 GAA and 0.958 save percentage both second best in the playoffs so far. He was stellar in the third and deciding contest in Sudbury against Laurentian stopping 35 of the 36 shots faced, which was the most from Laurentian in the series. |

Women's Hockey The No.6 Gaels (16-5-3) locked up the third place position in the OUA last weekend and will begin their OUA playoff quarter-final against the Laurier Golden Hawks (13-7-4) on Thursday night in Waterloo. Queen's recently took on Laurier on February 7 where they handled their rivals with a 3-1 win at home. Their other previous meeting in Waterloo back in November saw the Gaels sneak past the Golden Hawks 5-4 with an overtime victory.Â
The Gaels finished off their regular season last weekend starting with a tilt against the OUA leading Mustangs where the Gaels fell behind in the third and weren't able to secure any points. Addi Halladay scored the lone goal of the game for the Gaels who took a 1-0 lead but Western responded with four unanswered goals to take down the Gaels 4-1. Queen's was able to bounce back nicely again on Sunday however with a 5-2 win over Windsor. Halladay once again paced the Gaels scoring a goal and adding three assists for Queen's.
These two teams also met last year in the OUA playoffs, however that matchup came in the OUA Championship where Laurier were named Champions. Queen's last bested Laurier in a playoff series in the 2010-11 season when Queen's swept the Golden Hawks in the OUA semifinal en route to an OUA Championship victory over Guelph. That year current 5th year Gael Fiona Lester was a member of the Golden Hawks in her second season with the team. |

Player to watch Shawna Griffin | #18 | C | Queen's The Gaels captain had another successful season finishing with 13 goals and 13 assists in 24 games this year. She ranked 11th in the CIS in points this season, 13th in goals and 21st in assists. Against the Golden Hawks this year Griffin has three goals in their two meetings and will be looked upon once again for her scoring touch to help push the Gaels past Laurier.  |

Women's Basketball The Gaels (10-7) hit the road to close out their regular season play as they visit No.7 Ryerson on Friday night at 6pm and Toronto on Saturday night also at 6pm. The Gaels are looking to lock down a home game for the OUA playoffs and currently sit in 8th just behind Toronto. Should Queen's finish in the top eight, they would host a playoff game at the ARC next week.Â
Queen's is coming off an up and down weekend where they took a dominant win over Carleton 83-51 but dropped a 60-51 decision to Ottawa the following night at home. In Friday's game
Liz Boag paced the offence with her 24 points in the game and managed to break the career 1,000 point barrier in the process.

Men's BasketballIt's a big weekend for Queen's (5-12) as they are in need of a win to ensure they grab the final playoff spot in the OUA. The Gaels visit the No.3 Ryerson Rams (16-2) on Friday night at 8pm in Toronto (5-12) and follow up Saturday night with a pivotal game against the Varsity Blues also at 8pm. Should the Gaels win one of their two games it will all but assure them of a spot in the playoffs, the game against Toronto is particularly interesting as the two teams sit with identical records meaning the Varsity Blues could jump ahead of Queen's into a playoff position with a win.
Last weekend the Gaels entertained the top two teams in the CIS as the Carleton Ravens and Ottawa Gee-Gees visited Kingston. After a 114-45 loss to Carleton Queen's was able to outscore Ottawa by 13 in the second half but dropped a 91-81 decision.
Patrick Street finished with 22 points in the game against Ottawa while
Cy Samuels added a double-double for the tricolour.
