NORTH BAY, Ont. (November 14, 2015)- The Queen's Gaels men's basketball team defeated the Nipissing Lakers 69-57 on Saturday evening at the RJS Athletics Centre, completing their weekend road trip with two victories while expanding their winning streak to three games early in the regular season.
GAME FLOW The Gaels (3-0) were led by fourth-year guard 
Mark Paclibar, who recorded a game-high 16 points. The Minesing, Ont. native shot 7-of-10 in 21 minutes off the bench for Queen's, which included two field-goals from beyond the arc, while 
Sukhpreet Singh (Toronto) added 14 points in the win. 
Tanner Graham (Kingston, Ont.) and 
Mike Shoveller (Arnprior, Ont.) each tallied 11 points for Queen's, who shot 45.8% as a team on Saturday, compared to 31.7% from the host Lakers. Marcus Lewis tallied 15 points for Nipissing (0-4), who remain winless in conference play thus far.
The visitors found themselves down by as many as 12 points in the opening half, as the Lakers doubled up their lead with six-straight points in the second quarter, the Gael offence came to life quickly after, however, and the men railed off 12 points in a row to draw even. By the time the halftime buzzer sounded, the Gaels had put together a 16-1 run to overtake the Lakers going into the locker rooms.
Queen's incrementally added to its advantage over the final two quarters of play, and another offensive spark in the fourth, which included important three-pointers by Singh and Paclibar, helped spread the lead into double-digits and out of Nipissing's reach.
UP NEXTThe men return to the Athletics and Recreation Centre next weekend to host McMaster and Brock on Friday and Saturday respectively. Tip-off for both games is at 8:00 p.m.
