Gaels triumph over Laurentian, advance to the OUA Final Four

SUDBURY, Ont. (November 1, 2015) - The Queen's Gaels women's soccer team punched their ticket to the OUA Final Four on Sunday afternoon in northern Ontario, upsetting second-seeded Laurentian 2-1 in the conference quarter-finals.

GAME FLOW
The Gaels wasted no time opening the scoring, making good on two opportunities within the first 10 minutes of the match. Tara Bartram (Vancouer), who connected on the game-winner in Wednesday's playoff match at Toronto, found the goal for the second time in as many post-season matches, tallying the game's first goal in the 4th minute. Micah Vermeer (Grimsby, Ont.) doubled the Queen's lead four minutes later, and the visitors would maintain their lead throughout the first 45 minutes of the half.

Laurentian cut the Gaels lead down to one early in the second half on a goal from Sarah Sanford in the 51st minute. That would be as close as the hosts would get, however, as Queen's goalkeeper Michaila Frawley (Victoria, B.C.) turned aside five shots to earn her second playoff win of the year.
