TORONTO, Ont. (November 1, 2015)- The Queen's Gaels men's soccer team's season came to an end in the provincial capital on Sunday afternoon at Varsity Field, as the men fell to the Toronto Varsity Blues 1-0 in their OUA quarter-final match.
GAME FLOWNirun Sivananthan recorded the game's only marker with just moments left in the opening half of play. After
Oliver Coren (Toronto) rang a free-kick off the Varsity Blues crossbar in the 16th minute, the contest remained a stalemate up until a slow, bouncing cross found Sivananthan on the opposite end of the Gaels net, which he volleyed into the upper corner past keeper
Taylor Reynolds (Kingston, Ont.) to put Toronto up 1-0.
Reynolds made a diving save late in the second-half of play to keep the Gaels within striking distance of the Blues, but Queen's was unable to find the tying marker throughout the final 45 minutes, allowing Toronto to clinch their place in the OUA Final Four next weekend.
