After a tough battle the Gaels snap up a 14-9 victory over Western

LONDON, Ont. (October 3, 2015) – It was a tight game this Saturday with the Gaels (4-1) managing to get ahead and grab the 14-9 win against the Western Mustangs (3-1).

GAME FLOW
The Gaels pushed ahead quickly in the first half, finding their way to the Western line and pushing the Mustangs back on their heels. At the nine minute mark Lucas Rumball (Toronto) put down the one and only try of the game for both teams, giving the Gaels an early 5-0 lead. The rest of the half was a struggle for both teams with Alex Colborne kicking true a penalty goal for the Gaels and Western responding with three penalty goals of their own from Mark Denton which pulled them into a tentative 9-8 lead at halftime.

The Gaels didn't let the Mustangs get comfortable and with another penalty kick, found themselves in an 11-9 lead. The rest of the half was a slow one, with Mustangs being shut down by the Gaels defense and the Gaels only able to score one penalty kick before the final whistle. Colborne was the lone scorer in the second half with his two penalty kicks wrapping up the 14-9 win for Queen's.
