Gaels Wrap Up Exhibition Schedule

STORRS, CONN. (October 3, 2015) - Goaltender Kevin Bailie turned away 37 shots to keep the Gaels in it, but it wasn't quite enough as they fell 3-1 to UCONN.

GAME FLOW
The UCONN Huskies hosted Queen's for an exhibition matchup on Saturday. The first period ended in a stalemate as the teams each headed to the dressing room with a 0-0 score on the clock.

In the second, it was UCONN coming out with extra force as they fired 20 shots on Kevin Bailie (Belleville, Ont.) in the middle frame. It was the Gaels who struck first though, and Joseph Luongo (Concord, Ont.) scored half way through the period to give the visitors a 1-0 lead in the game. Just three minutes later the Huskies potted two goals of their own, just one minute apart, with tallies by Will Golonka and Tage Thompson. Despite being out-shot by a decent margin, Queen's held in it and took the one goal deficit heading into the final frame.

Queen's held off the offensive power of UCONN until the final minute of the third period, keep the game within reach. Pulling Bailie for the extra attacker, the Gaels were able to force an icing for an offensive face-off. Unfortunately, it was a Huskies possession that resulted in an empty netter, securing the 3-1 score and win for the home team.

UP NEXT
That will do it for the Gaels' preseason action, as they head back home to Kingston and prepare for the season opener on Friday, October 9th against the RMC Paladins. Their home opener will be the following week, on October 16th and 17th, with back to back games versus York and Brock.
