BOX SCORE OSHAWA, Ont. (October 16, 2015)- The Queen's Gaels men's soccer team defeated the UOIT Ridgebacks 1-0 on Friday evening, moving them into a tie with the second place Toronto Varsity Blues in the OUA East division.

Kyle Owens' first goal of the fall came 18 minutes into the opening half of play, but would stand up as the winner all the way until the full-time whistle. The Whitby, Ont. native notched his first-ever OUA conference tally just a few kilometers away from his hometown in the Durham region, allowing Queen's (7-2-4) to maintain its pressure on both the Varsity Blues as well as the first-place Ryerson Rams, who currently sit just two points up on the Gaels heading into the weekend matches.

Taylor Reynolds stopped both shots on goal he faced to earn his third cleansheet of the season, while Travis Marting stopped 5 of 6 shots in a losing cause for the Ridgebacks, who fall to 5-7-1 on the year but maintain a hold on the final playoff position in the division.
UP NEXTThe Gaels will close out the weekend on Sunday, October 18 when they head to Peterborough to take on the Trent Excalibur. Game time is set for 3:15 p.m. The men close out the regular season at home next weekend when they welcome Nipissing and Laurentian to Miklas-McCarney Field.
