NORTH BAY, Ont. (January 2, 2015) - The men's hockey team dropped their first game of the new year 4-3 versus the Nipissing Lakers after surrendering three unanswered goals in the final period of play to open up their 2015 portion of the OUA schedule.
The Lakers opened the scoring in the first frame on a powerplay marker from Brogan Bailey.
The Gaels found the back of the net in the second period as
Tyler Moore (Winnipeg),
Kelly Jackson (Scarborough, Ont.) and
Eric Ming (Williamstown, Ont.) collected the tallies to give Queen's the 3-1 advantage as they looked to hold on to a comfortable lead heading into the final period.Â
Nipissing responded with three unanswered goals of their own in the third frame as they went on to earn the 4-3 victory.
Kevin Bailie (Belleville, Ont.) started in net for Queen's, collecting 23 saves in the loss while Kirk Rafuse of the Lakers earned the 42 save victory.Â
The Gaels (8-6-1) return to action Tuesday night when they take on the No.9 Carleton Ravens (12-4-0). Puck drop is set for 7:30 pm at the Memorial Centre.
