WATERLOO, Ont. (Spetember 6, 2014) – With three tries and four conversions,
David Worsley (Vancouver) led the Gaels (1-0) to start off their season with a 53-0 shutout over the Laurier Golden Hawks (1-1) Saturday afternoon.
Queen's had a strong first half as
Jeffrey MacDonald (Toronto) put the first try on the board, completed with a conversion by Worsley. Continuing their momentum Worsley and
Kainoa Lloyd (Mississauga, Ont.) both put tries on the board to round out the first half with a 17-0 lead for the Gaels.
The second half solidified their lead as they pulled away from the Golden Hawks with Lloyd putting another try on the board. A streak of five Gaels tries followed, as well as two more conversions by Worsley. The Gaels finished their season opener with a score of 53-0 against Laurier.
The Gaels will be back in action next Saturday in their home opener as they host RMC on Nixon Field at 1:00pm.
