KINGSTON, Ont. (September 14, 2014) - After beating the Gee-Gees 5-2 on Friday night in Ottawa, the Gaels earned a 4-2 win Sunday evening at the Cataraqui Centre, as they battled Ottawa in the second leg of a preseason home-and-home.
The Queen's women's hockey team was able to break a 2-2 tie in the second half of the game to improve their preseason record to 2-0. Taryn Pilon (Peterborough, Ont.) registered a goal and an assist in the victory to bring her weekend point total to five. Mary Coughlin (Amherstburg, Ont.) had an offensive outburst of her own, as she tallied three assists for the Gaels.
Goaltenders Caitlyn Lahonen (Sharon, Ont.) and Stephanie Pascal (Sudbury, Ont.) split the playing time for Queen's, with Pascal earning the victory. Final shots for the game were level, 22-22.
The Gaels continue preseason play on Friday at the Queen's Invitational Tournament, playing the Laurier Golden Hawks in their opening game at the INVISTA Centre, with puck drop set for 7:30pm.
