Gaels suffer a loss and add a draw in Quebec

MONTREAL (August 21, 2014) - The Queen's Gaels women's soccer team got their first taste of action in a series of exhibition friendlies with both Laval and UQAM over the last two days earning a 0-0 draw with Laval and a 4-0 loss with UQAM.

On Tuesday afternoon Queen's was in Quebec City to take on Laval. The Gaels coaching staff used the game as a chance to get a good look at a number of players while the rosters are expanded during training camp. 22 players managed to see the pitch for Queen's out of the 34 who are attending camp while the keeper duties were split between Madison Tyrell (White Rock, B.C.) and Michaila Frawley (Victoria). In the end, neither team could find the back of the net and Tyrell and Frawley split the clean sheet.

The Gaels made their way to Montreal the following day for their second game in as many days, this time taking on UQAM. The coaching staff once again used 22 of 34 players in camp but the Citadins were too much for Queen's scoring four times for a 4-0 victory. Frawley got the start for the Gaels in the loss.

Up next for Queen's is the Old Four Tournament. The Gaels are welcoming McGill, Toronto and Western to Kingston this weekend and will take on McGill on Saturday afternoon at the West Campus Turf Field at 1pm.
