OTTAWA (February 26, 2014) - No. 5 Carleton jumped ahead early on Wednesday night in Ottawa, eventually beating the Gaels 6-2 in game one of their OUA East semifinal.

Michael McNamee opened the scoring three and a half minutes into the game for Carleton, and Mitch Porowski added a powerplay marker before the first period expired to give the Ravens a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes. Carleton repeated their quick start in the second, as Joey West scored in the first minute of the period.

Queen's got on the board four minutes into the second period, with Stephane Chabot (Rockland, Ont.) netting a powerplay goal for the Gaels to make it 3-1, assisted by Corey Bureau (Amherstview, Ont.). Taylor Clements (Toronto) scored the next goal for Queen's to make it 5-2 midway through the third period. Patrick McEachen (Stouffville, Ont.) picked up assists on both Gaels goals.

Corey Durocher made it 6-2 just 24 seconds later, scoring the game's final goal and forcing Queen's to replace goalie Kevin Bailie (Belleville, Ont.) with Chris Clarke (Fall River, N.S.). Damian Cross and Linden Bahm were the other Carleton goal-scorers.

Bailie made 17 saves in the loss, while Clarke stopped all four shots he saw in his 10 minutes of play.

Francois Dupuis got the call in goal for the Ravens, making 19 saves for the win.

Game two is set for Friday night at 8pm at the Memorial Centre, and the Gaels need to win to force game three, which would take place back in Ottawa on Sunday. For tickets to game two visit www.gogaelsgo.com/tickets.
