ST. CATHERINES, Ont. (November 22, 2014) – The No. 10 Gaels (2-3) lost to the Brock Badgers (2-3) 73-64 this Saturday night.
Emily Hazlett (Fredericton, N.B.) had a double-double performance despite the Gaels loss scoring 19 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
The Gaels also had big nights from
Abby Dixon (North Vancouver) and
Jenny Wright (Kingston, Ont.) who both contributed 13 points while
Robyn Pearson (Toronto) dominated the boards with 11 rebounds. The Badgers were led by Jenalyn Yumol and Melissa Tatti who both scored 14 points in the win.
It was a close first half with both teams matching each other in shooting to tie the score up at 21-21 going into the second quarter. The Badgers gained some traction as the half closed, managing to pull ahead and gain a 32-31 lead at halftime.
The Badgers pulled away in the second half hitting a 12-0 run to put them in a comfortable 54-44 lead heading into the final frame. The Gaels fought back and cut down the Badgers lead with
Marianne Alarie (Sudbury, Ont.) completing a three to tie the score at 58-58 with less than five minutes left of play. The Gaels kept it close for the rest of the quarter but the Badgers found their lead again and held onto it until the end grabbing a 73-64 victory over Queen's.
