The Gaels held off the Warriors thanks to the efforts of Brett Hagarty (Aurora, Ont.), Shannon Neville (Cambridge, Ont.) and Niki Slikboer (Seagrave, Ont.) who combined for 34.5 of the Gaels 57 points in the game. Three Gaels had double-digit figures in digs as well with Brett leading the way handling 17 while Danielle Blumentrath (Burlington, Ont.) and Ali Shamie (Toronto) shared setter duties finishing with 18 and 22 assists respectively.

Waterloo saw strong performances in a losing effort from Natasha Spaling who was successful on over 40% of her attacks and finishing with 13 points for the Warriors.

Queen's dominated to start the opening set as the Warriors committed six attack errors early which contributed to an 8-1 run for the Gaels. The Gaels used the early advantage to their favour pushing the lead to 11 before Emilie Normand (Ottawa) finished off the set with a kill to take the 25-16 frame.,

In the second set Waterloo stayed right with the Gaels and found themselves up 16-14 at the technical timeout. Waterloo had Sammie Gwozdz come through late in the set getting three of their final nine points on kills to claim the second set 25-20.,

The difference in the third set was thanks to a 6-0 run by Queen's led by two kills from Neville to open up a 15-11 lead after trailing by two. The Warriors evened the match at 20 before Katie Hagarty (Aurora, Ont.) threw down a pair of kills to put the Gaels ahead late before errors by the Warriors sealed the set in favour of Queen's.

The Gaels rode the momentum into set four jumping out to an early 8-6 lead. Errors by the Gaels allowed Waterloo to shift the momentum in their favour off a five point run to take a three point lead. The Gaels battled back and the two teams were back and forth in the final part of the set, with ties coming at 20-20, 21-21 and 23-23. Queen's scored the final four points however all set by Shamie. First it was Slikboer finishing off a pair of kills before Neville sealed the set and the match with two of her own.

The Gaels will return to the court next week when they host Lakehead at the ARC on November 21 at 6pm.
