TORONTO (November 1, 2014) - With a strong finish to the fifth set, the Gaels earned a 3-2 road win against Toronto on Saturday night, 25-20, 23-25, 23-25, 25-16,15-10.
Queen's took advantage of 38 attacking errors by the Varsity Blues en route to their first victory of the season. In the fifth set, the Gaels committed only one attacking error, as they stormed back from 8-7 down to win the tie-breaker 15-10.
Tyler Scheerhoorn (Belleville, Ont.) killed a team-high 13 balls and made nine digs in Queen's win, while 
Markus Trence (Orangeville, Ont.) had a team-high 13 digs and 10 kills for the Gaels. 
Scott Brunet (Calgary) led Queen's blocking charge, with six solo blocks compared to Toronto's five total blocks. The Gaels 
Jamie Wright (Kingston, Ont.) set 30 assists in the match.
Nathaniel Virgo had a great night for the Varsity Blues, picking up 10 kills, seven digs, and three solo blocks on just one attacking error. Kyle Frick had a game-high 15 digs, while Jake Dysselhof's 15 kills where also a game-high for Toronto.
The Gaels (1-3) continue their road trip next Saturday at 8pm, when they head to Waterloo to take on the Warriors.
