MONTREAL (October 18, 2014) - The Gaels picked up a 52-48 victory against UQAM this Saturday afternoon on the road in preseason action.
 
Ryall Stroud (Toronto) got the ball rolling early, scoring the first basket from the floor for the Gaels. Stroud's dominance on the boards resulted in seven rebounds and eight points for Queen's. UQAM didn't let the Gaels lead for long, grabbing a two point lead by the end of the first quarter. Both teams fought for the upper hand, with UQAM coming out on top at the end of both the second and third quarters.
 
In the final quarter the Gaels offence finally clicked, scoring seven quick points en route to outscoring the Carabins 21-7 in the final frame. With the comeback complete, Queen's gained a 51-47 lead with a minute on the clock. UQAM made a final push to retake their lead, successfully sinking a free throw to narrow the Gaels lead, but Queen's staved off the Citadins pressure to solidify their 52-48 win.
 
Tanner Graham (Kingston, Ont.) was the top scorer for the Gaels sinking 12 points. UQAM saw strong performances from Rubens Poteau, who scored 12 points, and Alexandre Bernard who added 10 points of his own.
 
The Gaels will be on the road November 1 when they take on Hobart College in Geneva, New York. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00pm.
