FREDERICTON, N.B. (October 11, 2014) - After topping the University of New Brunswick 3-1 on Friday, Queen's was victorious again on Saturday, this time beating UNB in straight sets, 25-21, 25-14, 25-18.
The Gaels attacking efficiency led them to victory, as their percentages were greater than UNB's in each set of the match. Queen's was disciplined offensively, only committing eight attacking errors in the match, compared to UNB's 20.
The match was highlighted by a seven point run for the Gaels in the second set, in which 
Scott Brunet (Calgary) hit the initial kill before serving a pair of aces.
The Gaels tandem of 
Mike Tomlinson (Stratford, Ont.) and 
Markus Trence (Orangeville, Ont.) put up the best numbers offensively, hitting 15 and 12 kills, respectively. 
Thomas Ellison (Winnipeg) did the bulk of the setting for Queen's, passing 33 of the team's 39 assists, while 
Ivo Dramov (Plovdiv, Bulgaria) made a game-high 10 digs as the libero.
Marc White had the best match for the Varsity Reds, hitting 12 kills to the floor.
Queen's continues their Maritime tour on Sunday and Monday, when they play a pair of games at Dalhousie.
