BOX SCORE KINGSTON, Ont. (January 4, 2014) - Queen's kicked off 2014 at home with a 74-61 victory over the York Lions Saturday night in the ARC main gym.
The Gaels scored the opening 10 points of the game, but York countered with three 3-point shots on consecutive possessions to keep themselves in the game.
Leading the way for Queen's was
Emily Hazlett (Fredericton, N.B.), netting 18 points and slowing up the Lions point-guards with her tough defense.
Andrea Priamo (Guelph, Ont.) and
Jenny Wright (Kingston, Ont.) contributed 13 points apeice.
Robyn Pearson (Toronto) also played a well-rounded game for the Gaels, recording a double-double on 14 points and 17 rebounds.
Kayla Pangos led the Lions attack with 13 points, while Llyandra Kerr and Emma Thompson chipped in with 12 points of their own.
Queen's (7-3) resume action against their OUA East division rivals next weekend when they host Ryerson Friday and Toronto Saturday, with both games getting underway at 6pm.
