BOX SCORE OSHAWA, Ont. (January 3, 2014) - Harrison Hendrix (Calgary) scored at 4:10 of the overtime period to give the No. 8 Gaels a 3-2 win over the UOIT Ridgebacks in Oshawa on Friday night.

With the win the Gaels extend their unbeaten streak to 16 games as they sit at 11-0-5 on the season and lead the OUA East division. UOIT picks up a point and now sits at 5-8-3 on the season holding down the sixth spot in the OUA East.

Braeden Corbeth (Oakville, Ont.) had two assists for Queen's while Tyler Moore (Winnipeg) and Patrick McGillis (Calgary) tallied the other two goals for Queen's. Colin Dzijacky performed well in the loss for UOIT stopping 35 of 38 shots.

The Gaels got off to a quick start in the first period when Moore scored his third goal of the season only 20 seconds into the period. Queen's kept the momentum in their favour just over five minutes later with a goal from McGillis. The Gaels looked to be in control of the game early but UOIT cut the lead in half before the first period was out. Queen's outshot the Ridgebacks 11 to nine in the first period.

The Ridgebacks tallied once in the second to tie the game up and erase the early two goal lead that Queen's had over UOIT. The third period saw the Gaels send a barrage of shots towards the Ridgeback goal outshoting UOIT 16-4 but the Ridgebacks starting goaltender Dzijacky held the Gaels at bay forcing the game into overtime.

In the overtime period with only 50 seconds remaining Hendrix scored his fourth of the season to give the Gaels the win with assists from Chris Van Laren (Kingston, Ont.) and Corbeth.

Kevin Bailie (Belleville, Ont.) stopped 23 of the 25 shots he faced to pick up his eighth win of the season.

The Gaels return to action tomorrow night when they travel to Waterloo to take on the Laurier Golden Hawks at 7:30pm.
