Gaels shutout RMC 3-0

BOX SCORE KINGSTON, Ont. (January 21, 2014) - Queen's picked up their second consecutive shutout in a 3-0 road win over RMC on Tuesday night.

Kevin Bailie (Belleville, Ont.) picked up the win, stopping all 15 of the Paladins shots.

After killing a penalty, the Gaels opened the scoring with five minutes left in the first period with a goal from Yannick Laflamme (Thetford Mines, Que.), assisted by Jordan Coccimiglio (Burlington, Ont.) and Stephane Chabot (Rockland, Ont.). Queen's continued to apply pressure in the second period, in which Braeden Corbeth (Oakville, Ont.) gave the Gaels 2-0 lead. Coccimiglio picked up his second point of the night in the third, netting the final tally for the Gaels with seven minutes remaining in the game.

The physical play picked up in the third, with the teams combining for 30 penalty minutes in the final frame, including 10-minute misconducts for checking from behind for Joseph Luongo (Concord, Ont.) of Queen's and Mathieu Lavallee of RMC. 

The next time the Gaels and Paladins faceoff will be in the Carr Harris Cup on February 6th.

Queen's is back in action on Friday night in Ottawa to take on the No. 7 Carleton Ravens at 7pm.
